Principal Message

May 2021

Greetings to our Thomas Families,

Let’s keep building on our student success regardless if students are in a physical or virtual classroom. Teaching and learning in any format provides opportunities for families to discuss ideas, and children to extend their academic thinking regarding life-long learning, collaboration, character and leadership.

Our character word for the month of May is perseverance. Students should strive to finish the year with purpose and strength. Obstacles and challenges are opportunities yet to be discovered, and a framework for establishing both academic, and family goals. Partner with us to discuss with your child the meaning of this important word and how it can complement your family’s values and goals for your student.

MAP testing this month will be on Monday, May 17th and Tuesday, May 18th. Students will be able to demonstrate their best work and best selves on this test.

The end of the school year is fast approaching. We will celebrate and recognize our Titan students during the last few days of school. Celebrations will include academic, student engagement, 4 Pillar life-long learning, collaboration, character, leadership, art, music, physical education and athletic awards and certificates. As we continue with COVID health and safety protocols, we will communicate information later this month regarding what our grade level celebrations will look like for our students.

We are thankful for those who are serving in the military at JBLM and throughout the world.

"Every day is a great day for learning at Dr. Claudia Thomas Middle School"
