Choose one of the classes below for each 2-week session:

Project-Based Learning (enrichment, multi-disciplinary learning)

Students will work on a project over a two-week period that engages them in solving a real-world problem or answering a complex question. They will demonstrate their knowledge and skills by creating a public product or presentation for a real audience.

Language Lab (language support for English language learners)

Language Lab is a breakthrough language and literacy program that combines innovative lessons with an engaging and interactive summer camp approach. Students will make language, reading, writing and social emotional gains that they’ll carry back to school in the fall.

COMPREHENSION CLUB (reading support)

This book club features high-interest books and student discussions. Students will be given the ability to voice their opinions and share perspectives with peers, launching them towards college and career readiness.

MATH CLUB (math support)

Math club uses BellXcel’s proven system to engage students in real-world math in ways that help make the math make sense.  This class is great for students that could use a summer math boost.

STEM/ROBOTICS (science and math)

Have you been watching the incredible footage of the new Mars rover and drones? Much of the principles of engineering design that went into building the rover and aerial drones are the same your student will learn and apply in robotics camp. Students will learn to explore and practice computational thinking to build and animate robots to do special tasks. Train for possibly becoming a NASA engineer while having fun with LEGO Mindstorm for Education!

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL COMMUNITY CIRCLES (social emotional learning)

Students will spend time each day with activities that acknowledge and celebrate each other, explore and share ideas, offer encouragement or address problems. Through various activities, students will be provided regular opportunities to develop empathy, practice respect for others, encourage mindful listening and share appreciations and feelings of acceptance or loneliness.

8th Grade Algebra Math Support- 7TH GRADE ONLY (math support to become eligible for 8th Grade Algebra)

This class provides time and support for students looking to become eligible for 8th Grade Algebra through completing the Khan Academy Pre-Algebra course.  Success in this program may make students eligible for 8th Grade Algebra where students will start earning high school credit while in middle school.

SUMMER LEARNING ACADEMY (YMCA enrichment program)

In partnership with the YMCA, students will have enrichment time after lunch until 2 p.m.  All middle school summer school classes finish with this activity.
